Oats - Stabilized

Stabilized oats are the same kernels as our unstabilzed oats, but they are subjected to steam for a short time, then rolled.
A steaming bowl of fresh oats is the perfect way to start your day especially if you are trying to prevent or are currently dealing with cholesterol levels, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, poor immunity, and/or atherosclerosis.
Oats, oat bran and oat meal contain a specific type of fibre known as beta-glucan, which helps lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease by 16-48%, and increase the immunity system.

Steel Cut Oats
Sometimes referred to as Scotch Oats, Irish Oats or Pin Oats.
Steel Cut Oats are made from oat kernels that have been steamed then cut and are excellent for use in such old time favourite dishes as European porridge. They are chewier than rolled oats, may take longer to cook and have the same nutritional value as rolled oats. The real value of Steel Cut Oats is more in the enhanced taste and rougher quality of the oats. The texture is firm compared to rolled oats and some prefer them in recipes for breads, muffins, biscuits, meat loaves and patties.

Tender Rolled Oats
Tender Rolled Oats are processed the same as the Stabilized Oats, but are rolled very thin. Postmenopausal women consuming approximately 300g per day can significantly slow the progression of the atherosclerotic process (narrowing of the vessels). It also aids in slowing the narrowing of arterial vessels (stenosis). In addition, the beta-glucans help increase the immunity system to fight bacterial infection.

Oat Bran
Oat Bran is the outer area of the kernel. Oats, via their high fiber content, remove cholesterol levels from the digestive system, which leads to decreased amounts reaching the blood stream. They also have special antioxidant properties that reduce atherosclerotic plaque (and thereby reducing atherosclerosis). This is especially so when consumed with vitamin c. It is suggested to take a glass of orange juice with a bowl of oats, or, a bowl of your favourite breakfast cereal topped with a large spoonful of oat bran.
